Absolutely amazing vocals from all the cast. They make you fans of songs you may not have liked before. The acting is brilliant, they hook the audience in. It’s a real upbeat production, leaving you feeling exhilarated. Totally worth seeing!

SUCH A SHAME !

Wonderful first half albeit with 2 curtains coming down, technical error. Fingers crossed second half Sadly not to be after possibly 10 mins another curtain coming down. The audience waited a very LONG time. To then be told the Show had to be Cancelled. Totally gutted, but such is life. My youngest granddaughter in tears virtually leaving the Theatre

Saw this in Oxford yesterday, one of the best shows l have ever seen. It was such fun and very professional and the whole cast were very talented. It was fantastic to see the whole crowd on their feet dancing at the end. A truly wonderful memory

ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT

I have not laughed so much in a long time. High energy, fun, extremely cheesy and some cracking one liners. The plot is as you would expect weaving SAW songs in. The cast were brilliant, you could tell they enjoyed performing it as much as the audience enjoyed watching them. Absolutely loved it, left with a massive smile on my face, such a good feel show.

FUN FUN FUN

Absolutely brilliant, loved every minute. The music was great, acting and singing was faultless, I would definitely see this show again and again and would never get fed up. Hope they turn it into a film .

BEST MUSICAL I'VE SEEN

I love musicals, mamma mia, King and I, Grease, Saturday night fever, list goes on, but this musical in my opinion beats them, great story line, great cast, amazing music, absolutely loved it, definitely see again. Even my husband enjoyed it who dragged along with me

BRILLIANT

I went with my sister, niece and two great nieces. Our ages range from 14 to 70, I didn't think it would suit us all, but I was totally wrong. The show was amazing from start to finish. The actors/singers couldn't have been better, they all had good voices and their acting was just as good. They had the audience clapping, singing along and up on our feet dancing. It is the best musical I have been to. It's a must go to, even if, as I do, you find S.A.W. songs cheesy.

A LIGHT-HEARTED MUSICAL THAT CELEBRATES THE STOCK AITKIN AND WATERMAN HITS

What is the plot of I Should Be So Lucky about? “The wedding Is off but the honeymoon is off”. The story centres around the couple of Ella and Nathan who are supposed to get married however it all goes wrong. This is due to last minute issues. Ella deals with her problems by talking to her idol Kylie Minogue. On the other hand Nathan talks to his Granddad in order to deal with his troubles. Kylie calms Ella down but Nathan’s Grandad makes Nathan’s problems worse. As a result it leads to a jilted bride, angry family and friends and a crazy best man. Team Bride make a decision that the only thing on their mind is to actually go to the honeymoon. They try to help Ella by using tried and tested techniques such as sun, sea, sand and energetic songs. What was unexpected however was having a tall and dark man in the name of Nadeem or the relationship between Nathan and friend Ash. As a result Nathan is then aware of the mistake that he has made and therefore tries to get Ella back. Will he get her back and will the wedding actually happen in Turkey after all? The message behind this musical is that humans make mistakes and if you want something then you have to work hard to get it. It even applies to love and marriage. What themes are explored in I Should Be So Lucky? The themes that are explored in I Should Be So Lucky are family, friends, love, marriage, adultery, positivity, identity and acceptance. Cast Lucy-Mae Summer was brilliant as Ella. She took us on a journey of self-identity in a beautiful way. She had a likeable stage presence and was charismatic too. She did the character with ease and panache. It was also great to see how powerful and sassy she was but yet vulnerable at the same time. Her vocals were powerful but also soft and angelic at the same time. Billy Roberts was amazing as Nathan. His character had many layers where he showed vulnerability but yet he was charming and likeable. One of his stand out moments involved a hot air balloon. He had some lovely moments with Ella (Lucy- Mae Summers) especially in delivering the nostalgic songs of the 80s. In addition, their chemistry was infectious to watch. They were a great partnership on stage. Giovanni Spano was superb as Ash. He was funny, warm and cheeky. He not only packed a punch with his vocals but we also saw a romantic side as a friend that he would do anything for you. Kayla Carter and Scott Paige were incredible as Ella’s friends Bonnie and Michael. Their humour was impressive where their comedic timing was second to none. It was done with ease that you are made to feel that you are part of their gang. Their vocals were on fire too. Jamie Chapman was light-hearted as Spencer the owner of the Turkish Paradise Resort. He was charming and adorable. You will fall in love with him instantaneously. The way in which he was whispering gave you Larry Grayson vibes. He kept you smiling every time he was on stage. Jemma Churchill was excellent as Nana Ivy. She gave an energetic performance and added a magical twist with her party vibe and dancing. Her acting was to a high standard. Melissa Jacques was impeccable as Ella’s mum Shelley. She was strong, feisty and powerful which is what mums are all about. Her vocals were breath-taking to watch. Matthew Croke was outstanding as Nadeem. His role was attentive to watch as it questions some difficult issues such as whether he is a genuine honest person who falls in love quickly or is he a smooth talk that promises everything. Jessica Daley was exceptional as Britney. She was strong but also fun at the same time. Her vocals were a powerhouse and her role allowed her to shine by expressing emotions. One of her standout moments was when she was in the casino where she danced across tables. This exuded confidence. This cast is complete by the ensemble of Dominic Anderson, Anna Unwin, Ralph Bogart, Gary Davis, and Sydney Isitt-Ager. This group of people bring vitality and they shine through their eccentric personalities on stage. They all have a story to tell in which each one stands out in their own way. Kylie Kylie was incredible and she was a true surprise to the show. The way that she appeared through a projected mirror was creative genius. She gave it an uplifting edge and provided empowering words of wisdom. She was strong, beautiful and fabulous. This was a talented cast that could truly sing, dance and act at the same time. They worked in unity regardless of how big or small their roles were. This was a credit to watch. Sets The sets were simple, effective and were reminiscent of a party vibe. The set changes were seamless. It makes it possible to have a wedding to an airport, a resort in Turkey to a beach, a hot air balloon to a casino, a care home and even Ella’s parents house. We were truly transported to these locations in style. It was great that it was all matched to the theme of a heart. This was evident from the arching scenery, the shape of the house, chairs, a boat, and the lights. Costumes The costumes were bright that perfectly matched with the themes of this production with mainly pink and red as the main colours. This allowed it to be summery and fresh. Soundtrack The music behind the soundtrack is full of nostalgia with 30 hits from the Stock Aitkin and Waterman Factory. They truly defined a generation and their songs are like nothing else with real pop anthems. It is one infectious hit after another. The soundtrack featured superstars Kylie Minogue, Rick Astley, Bananarama, Mel & Kim and Jason Donovan plus more. It is a celebration of real music to the heart that brings joy and happiness to many. The music of this entertaining musical was brought to life via a live band with great orchestration. The encore was special with the cast members on stage singing Never Gonna Give You Up. This allowed you to sing, dance, clap and let your hair down. It allowed you to leave the auditorium with a smile on your face. Great vibes. Choreography The choreography was clean, slick and gorgeous. All the cast members danced in synchronised fashion with incredible dance moves that meant that you could not help but to move your body to the music. It was exquisite to watch and it created a smashing party scene. If you love a light-hearted story with a talented cast and a musical catalogue of fantastic Stock Aitkin and Waterman songs then I Should Be So Lucky is the right show for a few hours of escapism at the theatre.

As expected, weak story line but a real feel good evening of ‘corn’. Cast were all very good and a few exceptional performances from Spencer and the Best Man. We really enjoyed the show and the cast also seemed to be having fun performing. Glad we went as a really good fun evening, only marked down for the weak story line!

AMAZING SHOW-NOT GREAT BAR SERVICE

We attened the matinee on Saturday 20th April, we arrived in plenty of time to get a drink before the show, only to find the queues for the bars were so long, the bar we queued in was at least 40+ people long, it took us over 20 minutes to be served, there clearly was not enough staff on the bars. This spoilt it for us as part of the theatre experience includes having a drink prior.

WE SHOULD BE SO LUCKY TO SEE THE END!

The show was stopped 3 separate times for technical reasons. The final time it was a catastrophic error and the show finished early. We were only 5 minutes in to the second half. Loved the music and the set but the technical issues ruined it

GUESS I’M JUST TOO OLD

Went last minute after the show we were booked for was cancelled. Found the whole thing embarrassingly lightweight & boring. The audience however absolutely loved it & laughed at every joke, rapturously applauded every song & generally had a great time. Sorry but I would rather stick pins in my eyes than sit through it again.
